Jeep’s New Wrangler Willys 392 Brings V-8 Awesomeness at a Lower Price Point
When only a 470-hp Wrangler will do, this new Willys 392 model is ready to rock the trails.

Like a band with multiple farewell tours, the Jeep Wrangler 392 is an SUV that refuses to retire. Not that we’re complaining. When the fire-breathing Wrangler 392 arrived at our 2021 SUV of the Year competition, we called it a masterpiece. Just a few years later, Jeep introduced a Final Edition for 2024, before reviving the V-8 Wrangler the very next year.
Now, for anyone who likes ridiculously fun Jeeps, we have great news: The 2026 Jeep Wrangler Willys 392 lowers the price of entry by thousands. That means a 2026 Wrangler 392, with its 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 putting out 470-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, now costs only $71,990.

The 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 is part of Jeep’s campaign to release 12 special-edition Wrangler models this year. This is number four. Not included in those drops is the fact that the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe is no longer a part of the lineup.
But we’re not here to talk about the loss of one of the industry’s most popular plug-in hybrids or the fact that the Wrangler 392 gets 13 mpg in the city. Let’s focus on what you get for your $71,990, versus the $80,000-plus eight-cylinder Wranglers cost before.

The 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 boasts 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. As on the Moab 392 model, this translates to 11.1 inches of ground clearance compared to the 9.7 on the Sport base model, 10.8 on the Rubicon, and 12.9 on fully loaded Rubicons.

Instead, it’s how this thing sounds. The last thing you want on a trail is to have to turn back early because you’re running out of gas, but there’s only so much you can do with an EPA-rated 301-mile driving range. For comparison, the standard 2026 Wrangler V-6 is good for 430 miles with an automatic while the turbo-four comes in at 452 miles.\nTHIS Is the Wrangler Special Edition We Still Want\nThat’s OK, because nothing about the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 is supposed to make sense. What we will say, however, is that a 2026 Wrangler Willys ’41 392 would be a fantastic combo. Imagine the lower price of the Willys 392 with its V-8, but paired with its awesome retro wheels and that green/tan military combo (a 2025 model, sans V-8, is pictured below).\nThere are still eight more special editions to go this year, as Jeep attempts to keep interest high before the next-gen model eventually arrives.
