Full rescue here: T0409016_Tiny Anoa Calf Was Trapped by Raging Flood Jeep’s New Wrangler Willys 392 Brings V-8 Awesomeness at a Lower Price Point When only a 470-hp Wrangler will do, this new Willys 392 model is ready to rock the trails. Zach GaleWriterManufacturerPhotographerFeb 13, 2026 Like a band with multiple farewell tours, the Jeep Wrangler 392 is an SUV that refuses to retire. Not that we’re complaining. When the fire-breathing Wrangler 392 arrived at our 2021 SUV of the Year competition, we called it a masterpiece. Just a few years later, Jeep introduced a Final Edition for 2024, before reviving the V-8 Wrangler the very next year. Now, for anyone who likes ridiculously fun Jeeps, we have great news: The 2026 Jeep Wrangler Willys 392 lowers the price of entry by thousands. That means a 2026 Wrangler 392, with its 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 putting out 470-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, now costs only $71,990.
ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW The 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 is part of Jeep’s campaign to release 12 special-edition Wrangler models this year. This is number four. Not included in those drops is the fact that the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe is no longer a part of the lineup. But we’re not here to talk about the loss of one of the industry’s most popular plug-in hybrids or the fact that the Wrangler 392 gets 13 mpg in the city. Let’s focus on what you get for your $71,990, versus the $80,000-plus eight-cylinder Wranglers cost before. ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW The 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 boasts 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. As on the Moab 392 model, this translates to 11.1 inches of ground clearance compared to the 9.7 on the Sport base model, 10.8 on the Rubicon, and 12.9 on fully loaded Rubicons.
Other equipment includes: ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW Full-time transfer case Electronic locking rear differential Dana 44 heavy-duty solid front and full-float rear axles Rock rails Cold air intake hood that adds to the over the top look and has a water separator\nThis being a Jeep special edition, of course you can count on decals and graphics peppered here and there on the exterior. Inside, it’s instantly clear this is no 2026 Wrangler base model. That’s because the Willys 392 has Nappa leather seats that are power-operated and heated, an Alpine nine-speaker sound system, 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a Trailer Tow package.\nWhat makes the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 so special isn’t the V-8 Wrangler’s MotorTrend-tested 4.2-second 0-60 mph time—because who cares about 0-60 in a Wrangler? Instead, it’s how this thing sounds. Whether you’re on the trails or crushing traffic on your way to the market, this Jeep will sound glorious.\nADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW\nThe downside, of course, is driving range. The last thing you want on a trail is to have to turn back early because you’re running out of gas, but there’s only so much you can do with an EPA-rated 301-mile driving range. For comparison, the standard 2026 Wrangler V-6 is good for 430 miles with an automatic while the turbo-four comes in at 452 miles.\nTHIS Is the Wrangler Special Edition We Still Want\nThat’s OK, because nothing about the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 is supposed to make sense. What we will say, however, is that a 2026 Wrangler Willys ’41 392 would be a fantastic combo. Imagine the lower price of the Willys 392 with its V-8, but paired with its awesome retro wheels and that green/tan military combo (a 2025 model, sans V-8, is pictured below).\nThere are still eight more special editions to go this year, as Jeep attempts to keep interest high before the next-gen model eventually arrives. For now, Jeep enthusiasts who can’t wait for the next special editions can put their name down for a 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 for $71,990 when orders open in March.”
“## 2026 Jeep Wrangler Willys 392: The $72,000 Icon Returns for the Trails\n\nFor off-road aficionados and vintage Jeep enthusiasts, the return of the Wrangler Willys 392 for the 2026 model year is nothing short of a automotive resurrection. While most automakers are pivoting toward electrification, Jeep has defiantly doubled down on raw power and rugged capability, offering a V-8-powered icon at a significantly more accessible price point than its predecessors. This isn’t just another trim level; it’s a statement—a celebration of the Wrangler’s heritage with modern performance tweaks that make it one of the most exhilarating off-road vehicles money can buy today.\n\n### The Enduring Legacy of the Wrangler 392\n\nThe Wrangler 392’s journey is a saga of persistence. Initially introduced as a limited-run model, its blend of brute force and legendary off-road prowess captured the hearts of reviewers and consumers alike. It earned accolades as a \”masterpiece\” for its unapologetic performance in a market increasingly dominated by sterile, tech-heavy crossovers. However, the celebration was short-lived, as Jeep announced a \”Final Edition\” for the 2024 model year, seemingly waving goodbye to the V-8-powered legend.\n\nYet, in a move that surprised many but delighted dedicated Jeepers, the V-8 Wrangler returned the following year, and now, for 2026, it’s back in a form that democratizes its legendary status: the Willys 392. This new iteration trims thousands off the price tag, bringing the starting MSRP down to a more palatable $71,990. While still a significant investment, this figure represents thousands less than the $80,000-plus eight-cylinder Wranglers commanded previously, making this high-performance off-roader accessible to a wider segment of the market.\n\n### Performance That Speaks Volumes\n\nAt the heart of the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392 lies the beastly 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine. This powerhouse delivers a staggering 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, transforming the already capable Wrangler into a trail-conquering monster. While acceleration figures like a MotorTrend-tested 4.2-second 0-60 mph time might seem trivial for a Jeep—as the brand itself questions, \”who cares about 0-60 in a Wrangler?\”—the real magic lies in the auditory experience and on-demand power delivery. The bellow of the Hemi as it devours inclines and roars through open landscapes is an experience that gasoline engines, especially naturally aspirated V-8s, deliver like no other.\n\nThis engine isn’t just about straight-line speed; it’s about the character it injects into every drive. Whether navigating tight trails or cruising down Main Street, the 392’s soundtrack commands attention and evokes a sense of adventure that electric powertrains simply cannot replicate. It harkens back to an era of automotive simplicity where performance was measured in horsepower and torque, not kilowatt-hours and regeneration.\n\n### Trail-Ready Equipment for Serious Off-Roading\n\nJeep hasn’t just slapped a V-8 into a standard Wrangler; they’ve engineered a complete off-road package that ensures the Willys 392 can handle whatever the trail throws at it. Standard equipment reads like a wishlist for any serious rock-crawler. The vehicle rides on formidable 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires mounted on 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, providing exceptional grip and durability on loose surfaces.\n\nThis tire and wheel combination translates to an impressive 11.1 inches of ground clearance. For context, this significantly surpasses the 9.7 inches offered by the base Sport model and the 10.8 inches of the standard Rubicon. While even more luxurious trims can achieve up to 12.9 inches, the Willys 392’s 11.1 inches strike a perfect balance between trail capability and on-road manners, ensuring that serious off-roading is possible without completely sacrificing daily usability.\n\nFurther enhancing its off-road credentials are a suite of heavy-duty components designed to withstand the abuse of demanding terrain. These include a full-time transfer case that provides seamless power distribution, electronic locking rear and front differentials for maximum traction in low-grip situations, and robust Dana 44 heavy-duty solid axles front and rear.
