The 2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport has been revealed with a new 6.7-liter V-8 engine.
The pushrod powertrain sends 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox to the rear wheels.
The Grand Sport wears the wider body of the Corvette Z06 and offers an optional carbon-fiber aero package and carbon-ceramic brakes.\n\nThe Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has returned. After giving us a peek at the new Grand Sport ahead of the 12 Hours of Sebring last weekend, Chevy is now sharing more details about the variant that will slot in between the base Stingray trim and the Corvette Z06. The Corvette Grand Sport will go on sale for the 2027 model year, and the big news is that it ushers in a new engine for Chevy’s iconic sports car.\n\nView Photos\nChevrolet\nYes, the Grand Sport heralds the arrival of a new small-block V-8. Dubbed the LS6, the new eight-cylinder engine displaces 6.7 liters and cranks out 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. In the Grand Sport, all of that oomph is directed exclusively to the rear wheels, but Chevy will also offer a Grand Sport X with a hybrid all-wheel-drive setup, which you can read more about here.\n\nFor Sale Near You\nSee all results for new 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray / Grand Sport for sale near 634720\n\nThe 6.7-liter V-8 is hooked up to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. We expect it to zip to 60 mph in well under 3.0 seconds, given that a Z51-equipped Stingray, which makes 495 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque from a 6.2-liter V-8, did the same deed in 2.8 ticks in Car and Driver testing.\n\nChevy says this new LS6 engine features hardware focused on delivering usable power. It has a higher 13.0:1 compression ratio to make the engine more responsive, while a larger throttle body and a tunnel-ram intake manifold with high-velocity ports help the engine suck in more air. You’ve likely clocked that this new V-8 is half a liter larger than the V-8 that the C8 Corvette launched with, and Chevy says that increased displacement came from a longer stroke. We’ve detailed more of the engineering that went into the LS6 in a separate story.\n\nView Photos\nChevrolet\nChevy says the LS6 produces more torque than any other naturally aspirated V-8 engine used in a standard Corvette in the model’s 70-plus-year history. The LS6 will be built in Flint, Michigan, and not only will it feature in the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X, but it will also be offered as standard on the base 2027 Corvette Stingray.\n\nThe Grand Sport will also feature several optional packages to increase its capabilities. The car comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires and new brakes that are designed to minimize brake dust and maintain a corrosion-resistant appearance. Magnetic Ride Control, which uses adaptive magnetorheological dampers, is standard.\n\nUpgrading to the Z52 Sport Performance package brings a stiffer suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires, and the J56 high-performance iron brakes from the Z06. At the top of the range is the Track Performance package, adding sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires and the J57 carbon-ceramic brakes from the Z06’s Z07 package. It also includes track-focused chassis tuning and a carbon-fiber aerodynamic package, with a front splitter, dive planes, underbody strakes, and a rear wing.\n\nView Photos\nChevrolet\nA quad center exhaust setup is also available, the first time such an exhaust configuration has been found on a pushrod V-8 for the C8 generation, and this option will also be offered on the Stingray. The Performance Traction Management system seen on other General Motors sports cars, which allows you to intricately adjust the traction control intervention, is optional.\n\nVisually, the Grand Sport isn’t too different from the Corvette we already know, wearing the widebody look seen on the Z06 that includes a bigger side air intake. The iconic hash marks painted over the front fenders of past Grand Sports have now been moved to the rear fenders to emphasize the C8’s mid-engined layout. Chevy also brought back Admiral Blue Metallic, a color from the C4 generation, to pair with the center stripe and fender hash marks, offered in a variety of hues. There’s also another new exterior paint color, Pitch Gray Metallic, and the Grand Sport features unique 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels with four available finishes.\n\nView Photos\nChevrolet\nChevy will also offer a Launch Edition for the Grand Sport’s first year on sale, which brings a unique Santorini Blue-Dipped interior with red stitching and accents. A plan view graphic of the Grand Sport is embossed in the headrests and stitched into the floor mats, while the visor over the gauge cluster is wrapped in leather with special red accents that align with the center mark on the steering wheel. A special Grand Sport badge on the steering wheel and a Launch Edition plaque on the central speaker grille round out the upgrades.\n\nThe 2027 Corvette Stingray and Corvette Grand Sport will enter production this summer, with sales likely starting in the second half of the year. Chevy has yet to release pricing for the Grand Sport, but we expect it to start at around $95,000.\n\nIn the rapidly evolving landscape of American sports cars, Chevrolet has once again ignited the passion of enthusiasts with the highly anticipated return of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport. This iconic model, steeped in a rich heritage of performance and track-inspired engineering, emerges for the 2027 model year not merely as a revival, but as a bold statement of intent. Slotting seamlessly between the acclaimed Stingray and the track-focused Z06, the new Grand Sport represents the perfect synthesis of everyday usability and exhilarating performance, a testament to Chevrolet’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a mid-engine Corvette.\n\nAt the heart of this automotive masterpiece lies a newly unveiled powertrain that signifies a significant evolution for the C8 generation. The 2027 Grand Sport marks the debut of the formidable 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 engine, a naturally aspirated powerhouse that redefines the very essence of American muscle. This remarkable engine, a product of meticulous engineering and innovation, generates a staggering 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque, numbers that place it firmly in the upper echelon of performance vehicles. This newfound power is channeled through a sophisticated eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring that every ounce of the LS6’s potential is translated into blistering acceleration and seamless power delivery.\n\nThe significance of this new engine cannot be overstated. While the Stingray has long captivated drivers with its potent 6.2-liter V-8, the introduction of the 6.7-liter LS6 represents a substantial leap forward in displacement and capability. This larger displacement, achieved through an optimized stroke, allows for a more robust and responsive powerband, ensuring that the Grand Sport feels alive and eager at all times. The engineers at Chevrolet have meticulously crafted the LS6 to deliver not just raw power, but a refined and exhilarating driving experience. A higher compression ratio of 13.0:1 enhances the engine’s responsiveness and efficiency, while a larger throttle body and a tunnel-ram intake manifold with high-velocity ports optimize airflow, allowing the engine to breathe deeply and unleash its full potential. The result is an engine that not only produces impressive horsepower and torque figures but also delivers a visceral and engaging soundtrack, a symphony of American V-8 engineering that will send shivers down the spine of any driving enthusiast.\n\nThe implications of this new engine extend far beyond the Grand Sport itself. In a move that underscores its significance, Chevrolet has announced that the 6.7-liter LS6 will also serve as the standard powerplant for the base 2027 Corvette Stingray. This decision speaks volumes about the engine’s capabilities and Chevrolet’s confidence in its ability to elevate the entire Corvette lineup. For Stingray buyers, this means that the already impressive performance of the C8 generation will reach new heights, offering a level of power and refinement previously unattainable in the entry-level model. This strategic move ensures that the Corvette brand remains at the forefront of the sports car segment, providing customers with an exceptional value proposition that combines performance, innovation, and the unmistakable allure of the Corvette nameplate.\n\nThe Grand Sport’s connection to the track is evident in its very design and engineering. Chevrolet has equipped the Grand Sport with the wider bodywork of the Z06, endowing it with a more aggressive stance and enhanced aerodynamic capabilities. This purposeful design choice not only
