By Eric StaffordPublished: Mar 26, 2026 Save Article 2027 chevrolet corvette grand sport grand sport xView Photos Chevrolet The 2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport X debuts as the replacement for the hybrid all-wheel-drive Corvette E-Ray. The GSX pairs GM’s new LS6 535-hp 6.7-liter V-8 with a 186-hp electric motor on the front axle; the hybrid system produces a combined 721 horsepower. The new Grand Sport X should go on sale sometime this fall, and its cost will likely exceed the outgoing E-Ray’s $111,095 starting price. The letter X is used to designate all sorts of things. In mathematics, it’s an unknown variable. If you see the symbol on a treasure map, grab a duffel bag and a shovel, because the location might make you the next Richie Rich. The late rapper DMX famously sang about the letter in his braggadocious ballad, “X Gon’ Give It to Ya.” But when it comes to Chevrolet, X now identifies its hybrid all-wheel-drive Corvette models. Following in the wildly wide tire tracks of the ZR1X, the new 2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport X debuts as the replacement to the E-Ray. A 721-HP Hybrid AWD Corvette At the heart of every non-ZR1/Z06 Corvette is GM’s new small-block V-8, which uses the LS6 moniker. This naturally aspirated 6.7-liter mill musters 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. Like the outgoing E-Ray, the hybrid Grand Sport’s mid-mounted V-8 pairs with an electric motor on the front axle that enables all-wheel drive. Along with a compact lithium-ion battery, the GSX’s e-motor was plucked from the ZR1X and makes the same 186 hp and 145 pound-feet. Altogether, the Grand Sport X packs a heady 721 horses, though Chevy didn’t share its peak torque figure. We’ll also have to wait until a later date for performance estimates. View Photos Chevrolet Both the regular rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport and its X-rated counterpart have a wider body like the Corvette Z06. Each GS model can also be dressed up with the nameplate’s signature hash marks, now located on the rear fender for the first time, as well as Admiral Blue paint and a white center stripe. The Grand Sports share myriad performance parts too, such as standard Magnetic Ride Control dampers and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires. The GSX can be fitted with Michelin’s PS4 summer tires as part of the optional Performance package, but it misses out on the ultra-sticky Cup 2 tires that are included with its sibling’s track-focused pack. Still, the hybrid Grand Sport has standard carbon-ceramic brakes. It also has an exclusive Stealth drive mode, allowing limited pure-electric propulsion at speeds up to 50 mph. A separate Shuttle mode is similar but capped at 23 mph—perfect for avoiding the wrath of any neighborhood Karls or Karens eager to report noise violations to the HOA. Once you reach the racetrack, though, the GSX offers additional modes to take advantage of its hybrid system. These include Endurance (prioritizes longer sessions), Qualifying (perfect for the fastest lap time), and Push-to-Pass (max power boost for overtaking). View Photos Chevrolet Inside, the Grand Sport X enjoys the same layout as the rest of the Corvette family. For its debut model year, Chevy is offering a Launch Edition, which covers nearly the entire interior in Santorini Blue. The mostly monochromatic color scheme is accented with red contrast stitching, and the headrests feature a distinctive embossed image that’s mirrored on the floor mats. Other interesting visual details include a Grand Sport logo on the steering wheel and a waterfall-like speaker plaque. Chevy hasn’t yet announced pricing for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X, though we expect it’ll cost more than the outgoing E-Ray, which currently starts at $111,095. Both Grand Sports, along with the updated Stingray, will begin production this summer at GM’s assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The trio should reach dealerships sometime in the second half of this year.”
\n\n\n”The C8 generation of the Chevrolet Corvette has redefined the American sports car, blending world-class performance with everyday usability. As we enter the 2027 model year, the lineup continues to evolve, with the introduction of the highly anticipated Grand Sport X. This new model replaces the groundbreaking E-Ray, combining the E-Ray’s innovative hybrid all-wheel-drive system with the widebody design and track-focused enhancements of the Grand Sport. But the Grand Sport X is more than just a replacement; it’s an evolution, bringing together the best elements of the C8 lineup into a compelling package that offers blistering performance, advanced technology, and surprising practicality.\n\nUnderpinning the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X is Chevrolet’s latest generation of its iconic V8 engine. The 6.7-liter LS6, a descendant of the legendary small-block family, serves as the heart of the Grand Sport X. In its naturally aspirated form, this powerplant delivers a robust 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. However, the Grand Sport X takes this potent V8 and pairs it with an advanced hybrid system, creating a powertrain that’s both powerful and efficient. Drawing inspiration from the ZR1X, the Grand Sport X features an electric motor mounted on the front axle. This motor contributes an additional 186 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, working in concert with the V8 to deliver a combined output of 721 horsepower. This isn’t just about raw power; it’s about intelligent power delivery. The hybrid system allows for precise torque vectoring, enhancing handling and stability, particularly in challenging conditions. While Chevrolet has yet to release official performance figures, it’s safe to say that the Grand Sport X will offer acceleration and agility that rival the best in its class. The integration of the electric motor also opens up new driving modes, allowing drivers to tailor the car’s performance to their specific needs. Whether it’s maximizing fuel efficiency, optimizing track performance, or finding the perfect balance between the two, the Grand Sport X offers a level of versatility that sets it apart from its predecessors.\n\nThe exterior design of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X is a testament to Chevrolet’s commitment to both form and function. Following the design cues of the Z06, the Grand Sport X features a widebody stance that immediately conveys its performance credentials. This wider track not only enhances stability at high speeds but also allows for the fitment of wider tires, further improving grip and handling. The iconic hash marks, a signature element of the Grand Sport lineage, have been reimagined for the 2027 model year, now adorning the rear fender for the first time. This subtle yet significant change adds a fresh, modern touch to the classic design. Chevrolet is offering a range of striking color options for the Grand Sport X, including the captivating Admiral Blue, which is paired with a bold white center stripe. This color combination harks back to the Corvette’s rich racing heritage while looking perfectly at home on this modern marvel. Beyond its stunning looks, the Grand Sport X is equipped with a host of performance-enhancing features. Standard Magnetic Ride Control dampers provide an exceptional balance of ride comfort and handling precision, adapting to changing road conditions in milliseconds. The car comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires, offering impressive grip in a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. For those who demand the ultimate in track performance, an optional Performance package allows for the fitment of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires, providing even more grip for spirited driving.\n\nStepping inside the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X reveals a cockpit that’s designed to immerse the driver in the driving experience. The interior layout is a testament to Chevrolet’s commitment to driver-centric design, with controls and displays positioned for optimal ergonomics and minimal distraction. For the debut model year, Chevrolet is offering a Launch Edition that takes the interior to a new level of luxury and style. The Launch Edition is characterized by its extensive use of Santorini Blue, a vibrant and sophisticated color that covers nearly every surface of the cabin. This bold color choice is beautifully complemented by red contrast stitching, which adds a touch of sportiness and visual interest. The headrests feature a distinctive embossed image that echoes the car’s Grand Sport heritage, while the floor mats carry the same motif, creating a cohesive and upscale feel. Other notable interior details include a Grand Sport logo prominently displayed on the steering wheel, serving as a constant reminder of the car’s performance pedigree. The audio system’s speaker grille is designed with a striking waterfall-like pattern, adding a touch of
